The Chubby Castor

Having read reviews and not having been for a meal for a long time, we were uncertain about the quality of evening ahead. Thankfully we had a nice evening with good food and attentive service. sadly the vegan curry wasn&#39;t available and we took the last vegan burger as an alternative - so attention to supply and demand would be an area for improvement. But the sea bass was delicious as was the mini pudding - but again, sadly no decaff coffee available. Will certainly visit again.

The restaurant has a &#39;buzz&#39; and people looked happy. This is the second time I&#39;ve been and the atmosphere has been great both times. There is nothing better than full tables to give you confidence you&#39;ve chosen the right place to eat. The waiting staff were working very hard. They were all brilliant. They were polite, knowledgeable, very personable but also very professional. We were an eclectic bunch of friends and our tastes varied from fish and chips, through sea bass, vegetable curry to Aubergine Gratin. Everything was delicious, cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. We rounded the meal off  with deserts - pavlova and fruit crumble - ten out of ten was one comment! All in all it was a brilliant occasion.

Wonderful find. Excellent lunch. All courses were flavoursome and well balanced. Very good wine at an amazing price. Didn&rsquo;t have pudding as we were replete from everything else, although the selection looked delicious. Definitely recommend.

Excellent meal served by a very attentive waiter.  Unfortunately we were the only 2 people in the restaurant at lunch explained by it being* half term. The only small criticism is that we would have preferred another savoury course in the five course tasting menu rather than two desserts. We will definitely be back.

What a great find.Food, service and ambience all top notch. If this restaurant doesn&#39;t get a Michelin star very soon I would be astonished.The serving staff were knowledgable on what they are servicing and made some excellent wine suggestions. It was refreshing to see a wide variety of excellent wines by the glass.The food was astonishing, as good as any one and some two star restaurants.The restaurant itself is in beautiful castor in a very old building. However inside is modern just like the food.Outstanding.

sunday lunch with wine pairing was fantastic! The service and atmosphere were very decent. The price for the 3-course sunday lunch was reasonable. Will definitely go back again for its dinner!

We sat in the dining room where the atmosphere was a little cold, it would have been more cosy in the other areas. Everything else about our visit was lovely.

The service is very good. The steak is very fried. The fish is very tender. Come back next time.

No Mac &amp; Cheese. Different veg to normal. No beef. Due to a 50% off promo that was running - so was very busy and obviously not enough food sadly. However, very good service.
